Feeling Scared and Unfocused by What’s Happening? Here’s What Can Help You Cope and Refocus

I hear you. And yes, this is one of those moments when everything feels out of place.

The news, the noise, the fear—it can all get too much.
And in such times, one thing I lean on is trust.
Because sometimes, it’s the only way forward.

Trust that our government is working to manage things wisely.
Trust that our Army, Navy, and Air Force are capable, trained, and dependable—ready to protect us when needed.
Trust that the police in your city are alert, working day and night to keep us safe.
Trust in your community, in your neighbours—that we will hold each other up in difficult times.
Trust in yourself—because when the moment demands it, you will rise with strength you didn’t even know you had.
Trust in God, or any higher power you believe in. That faith will help you in ways you can’t yet see.

In uncertain times, it’s natural to feel distracted, overwhelmed, or even afraid.
We lose focus because fear pulls us into imagined worst things that could happen.
But trust brings us back to this moment, where we’re still breathing, still here, still able to choose what we do next.

Along with trust, follow the safety guidelines being shared, cooperate with the authorities, and stay informed—but not overwhelmed.

Give TRUST a chance.
Wrap yourself in the thought that so many forces are working to protect you, so that you can sit, study, and breathe freely.

Try this:
Take a few deep breaths.
Gently place a hand on your heart and tell yourself,

“I am safe. I trust things will be okay.”

Say it like you mean it—because your mind and heart listen when you speak with belief.

And when you feel a little lighter, return to your books.
Not just because exams or studies are important, but because learning is one way we continue building a stronger nation, calmly, quietly, from where we are.

You’re not alone.
And I believe we are all there for each other.

With you in these uneasy times,
Your Psychologist,
